Historic Foxton Cottage

Welcome to historic Foxton Cottage, one of the oldest standing houses in Loudoun, circa 1734, located in the historic district of Taylorstown.

Foxton portrays the classical federal life style found in early America, and its architectural integrity gives insight to the lives of the early settlers.

The interior of the main house has an orderly, almost mathematical layout reflecting the discipline of 18th Century.

It sits on 19 private acres, half of which is wooded, and includes 2,000 feet of Catoctin Creek visible from the main house.  The primary section is an historic Patent House with its small, quaint rooms crafted with original moldings, banisters, paneling, chair rails and random-width flooring.  Its unique location affords valuable seclusion and abundant wildlife.

Foxton Cottage has five lined, wood-burning fireplaces which provided in the past, as well as in the present, the comfort, charm and harmony of an early cottage. The addition to the original building has been carefully modeled after other existing structures in Loudoun County.

Its Victorian tenant house serves as a valuable addition, as well as the free-standing art studio, which was once an early corn crib.  The 75-foot stable can easily be brought back to its original, functional status.

Another bonus is that Foxton has been solicited by a land trust which may grant up to $100,000 tax benefit to the new owners, provided that the entire 19 acres remain undivided.

Foxton Cottage has been featured in numerous historic tours held in Loudoun County.
